Rain sensors?

Anyone got any experience of rain sensors? (on Alfas or otherwise). Last
time I looked at them I got the impression they were unreliable
gimmicks, but that was quite a while ago.

My wifes got them on her Renault Clio Extreme - never had a problem with
them in 3.5 years...

My 156 has them. The V6 came with the winter pack as standard in the UK.
They generally work well. Inevitably there are times I feel the need to
override them but few and far between.

My wife's 147 has more standard variable intermittent and I miss the
auto setting. Maybe I am getting lazy in my old age!

I got rainsensor in my V6, works ok, one thing im missing there should
be more sensitivity settings than auto and 1-3 levels.

Otherwise: It works brilliantly om a 2000 Mercedes E 320 CDI Avantgardé, a
2002 Mercedes E 320 CDI Avantgardé, a 2003 Mercedes E 320 CDI Avantgardé and
on a 2005 Mercedes E 320 CDI Avantgardé.
