156 Front Bumper Removal

I'm looking to replace the headlight washer stop valve but the thing
resides somewhere behind the black grill on the lower part of the
front spoiler.

The grill is riveted in place (damn!) and because the pipe runs in
front of all the radiators, it looks like a front bumper removal
job..urgh. Had a quick look before the rain started and found there's
two torx screws holding the sides to the front wings (one has very
limited access). There will be more though.

Anyone removed the front bumper - any hints and tips (other than small
tools and hands required)? What's the best way to do it - other than
get someone else to do it?

hi
its a tiny bit more involved than that.

its been a couple of years since I did it last.
I seem to remember there are 4 screws underneath which also hold the engine
tray in place, 3 or 4 screws on top near the bonnet catch, 2 screws just
below the bonnet catch. and 3 or 4 screws (each side) attaching the bumper
to the wings. to get at the one on the wings your better off removing the
inner wheel arches. its handy to have an extra pair of hands so not to drop
or damage the paint work and it should come away. there are a variety of
screw types, torque/hex/pozi.
there might be some other bits and bob's that need to come off at least
you've got an idea of what and where to look.

Also when replacing the bumper make sure you have it the rights side of the
engine tray.

hope this helps

Certainly have!

Good one!

Certainly..thanks very much! It's a good idea to know roughly where
all the screws are in a job like this as, if I miss one, the weight of
the bumper will probably just snap the plastic!

Hi

Its not a hard job, and once removed the refit is alot faster.

Sorry I didn't get that. I've checked the Email is working so I can
only assume you missed the requirement to put the word Alfa somewhere
in the title (see sig). The reason for that extra step is that when I
started out in Newsgroups I used an unprotected address so the *Alfa*
word subject filter fixes the spam nicely.

Can you re-send Mark?

Thanks,
