You're kidding?

If it was me, I'd have the Graduate's transmission rebuilt and then install
it. Job done.

Indeed. I would be very tempted.

Nope. Not kidding at all. She was sitting in the car waiting for the
tow truck when WHAMMO it arrived. Horrid. I would link to a pic of
the rear end but it's too depressing.
The tow truck was sufficiently damaged that it also had to be towed.

Ah, so. I hadn't thought of that option... Thanks!

Hi folks --
Final note in the thread -- I decided *not* to buy the salvage car.
Had reasons to suspect that the previous engine hadn't been well cared
for, nor the transmission, alas. Would have liked to own a few of the
body parts, but not for the cost of buying/moving/storing the whole
car.

Thank you, Catman!

p.s. happily for the owner of the wrecked car -- she found an '88
Spider Veloce that suited her just fine. I drove it last week and it's
in good shape.

Hi folks --
A few weeks ago I decided not to buy a salvage car. Which *of course*
meant that I would crash my baby this afternoon. D'oh!

I hit a wet spot heading into a curve right before a small bridge.
Fortunately, I got onto the bridge and glanced off the barriers, rather
than missing the bridge and flipping down to the creek. Damage
results: hood, front bumper, front, right front fender and part of the
rear bumper crunched. Some damage to the radiator, apparently. We'll
see... The fixit guys say they can bang most of my metal back into
shape. And.... I found another possible parts car nearby for not much.
So. Mostly just damage to the pocket book. I'm very lucky. Also
nice to see that nearly every car that passed me (while I waited for
the tow) stopped to ask if I was OK and if I needed assistance.
Safe driving to you all!
