Very Fast Indicator Flashing

I got in my car this morning to find that the left indicator flashes
very quickly when used. Looking at an earlier closed posting I see that
people has suffered similar problems before. Is this related to a relay
in the steering column or a fuse? Will the fuse be one of those housed
with the OBD?

Have you checked that both front and rear bulbs are functioning?

If you feel that any of the above is incorrect,
inappropriate or offensive in any way,
please ignore it and accept my apologies.

And the repeater.

In 99% of the cases one of the 3 bulbs is gone

Thanks for your help guys - it was one of the rear indicator bulbs.
For my education - what makes the indicator light flash really fast, is
this an intentional warning system that there is a problem?

I've always assumed - and I'll doubtlessly be put right pretty quickly -
that the absence of one bulb changes the resistance in the repeater causing
it to flash more rapidly.

Pretty close.  It changes the resistance of the circuit which alters the
rate at which the bi-metallic strip heats up.  This is probably not the
case with electronic flash units :)

As to whether it's intentional, I think it's more that it's convenient.....

Not to add my two cents worth.. but I had the same problem and it was a
bad ground for one of the lights.

Same effect as removing a bulb, really.

Try check your indicator lamps, I'm 95 % sure, that one of them is not
working.....
