Hi,

the manual seat adjustment (drivers side) on my Alfa 147 1.6 Lusso is
stuck. it has been raised, but now I cannot lower it!

Anyone know of a fix?  I cannot drive like this - my head hits the
roof!

Thanks

Steve

Think I have this problem in my 156 too -- can't adjust the height up
or down (fortunately it's at the right height for me already). Not
sure if it's a fault or if there's a knack to it that I haven't
figured out yet. I'm doing what it says in the handbook, and the
handle is pretty flimsy so I don't want to force it.

Did you get yours unstuck yet? If so, what's the trick?

Cheers,
Phil

Well....

I undid the screws holding the plastic cover and knobs, and there is a
metal mechanism with a rachet gear thingy (i'm not technical!) inside.
It looks like it may be overused, and only goes one way (up). In order
to do a temporary fix, I took it off (3 screws), pushed the seat to
the bottom, and then re-attached it. After putting all the plastics
together, I wound it up two notched to the right height.

Thing is, its a temprary fix. My wife needs it higher, but i don't to
do the above every other day!

The problem? Alfa can supply a new mechanism for a measely £160 +
vat!!!   I am amazed they get away with it - its just a metal plate
with a spring and gear.

If you are interested, its part number: 473022719

I have tried calling scrap yards, but no-one has any.
