Air flow meter TS

I'm convinced that the AFM on my 166 TS is faulty - classic symptoms.

Truly dumb question since I've had very little hands-on with the 166 (there
are those who would say that's not the reason for my asking truly dumb
questions) - but where *is* the air flow meter.

And, if Doc Entropy is looking in: Yes, I agree entirely with what you're
thinking. How did we ever manage without air flow meters, eh? To think that
I drove around for decades, blissfully unaware that I didn't even have an
air flow meter. Ain't progress wonderful?

Would that be the air filter box at lower right? The black plastic thing in
the upper right is nothing to do with you and I'm only looking after it for
a friend  ;)

Got it! It sits immediately above, and provides the conduit from, the air
filter.

I was looking for something bolted on to the air delivery tubing - in fact,
it's in-line.

My thanks.

In line and Devil spawn... Not sure which one you're burden'd with, Pete,
but ~sometimes~ (only if the warranty is expired) you can get the lid off
the "flap style" ones and just cleaning the bit where the "needle" slides
can "fix" the problem. If it's a platinum wire one, you're stuffed.

Thinking of being stuffed - the AFM arrived and then I discovered that I
can't get the nuts off the bolts that hold the AFM retaining plates. The
nuts were rusty and attempts to remove them simply persuaded the bolts to
rotate in their seating. <spit!>

So, it's drill 'em out and replace with bolts and nuts right through the air
filter box top or get a replacement. Scrap yard sounds like the place for a
replacement rather than having the main dealer fly one in business class
from Italy in six months' time.

Anyone know if the 156 TS air filter housing is the same as the 166 TS?

Never seen one, but there is a distinct chance, IWHT
