Hi All. Bought my first Fiero 2 years ago and loving it. 86GT, 4spd.
Having driven a prelude for years, I got used to changing its timing
belt. I need to know whether the Fiero has a timing belt, or timing
chain? And how often should it be replaced??
My car has 164,000 kilometers and the previous owner made no mention of
ever changing this...
Many thanks,
JD.

Unless you've plopped a DOHC engine in your car... you've got a chain.
They're really reliable unless you beat on the engine.
Change your oil every 3-4000 miles. Use a PF52-C Delco filter.

The timing chain is meant to last the life of the motor. If
the motor is severly neglected it can fail prematurely, but
failure doesn't do much other than to cause the motor to stop
turning. A new chain fixes that easily.
