the fiero will start pretty easily in the mornings, when it's cold, but
it'll stall, or drive it a mile or so and it'll stall, and won't restart, if
you floor it, it sounds like it's firing but doesn't start.  it has good
fuel pressure at the check valve, good spark, where should i go?  just
changed the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil, full tuneup on it, but it didn't
help.  i was thinking either low compression, very dirty injectors (been
sitting for unknown amount of time), bad fuel pressure regulator, or maybe
clogged cat, anyone agree or have any other thoughts??

Do you  get spark after it cuts out? Check with a timing light or other spark indicator.
Do you hear the fuel pump whine when you try to restart it? It could be the pump or a heat sensitive
connection to the pump.
The only other item that springs to mind is the Idle Air Control. It might heat up and stop
functioning. You'd see that failure any time you took your foot off the throttle, but not while
cruising on the highway, for example.

I'd guess dirty injectors would just run rough/dump too much fuel.
Clogged cat would either stop the motor in a matter of seconds or just limit the top RPM, not
n-start.
Low compression won't change much with running.
Low fuel pressure (not zero) idles, but won't go fast/stumbles.

has great spark, well bright orange, fuel pump is working.  i actually just
pulled the tank and drained the old gas, checked all the lines, etc.. it's
priming properly.  stupid question but where is the idle air controller on
the 2.8 fiero?  i'm sure i could find it if i looked but may as well have a
description before i go hunting tomorrow.

Thanks for any input.

Spark should be blue, and LOUD. It should be regular as well. Hook
the timing light up to the coil wire and aim it at a dark place so
you can see the flashes while cranking. There should be no skipped
flashes. Dribble some fuel down the throttle body, or spray starting
fluid in and see if it will start for a few seconds. If so, then
either the pump or the injectors aren't working properly.

Have you tried pulling any codes yet?

The IAC being bad wouldn't keep it from
starting, just keep it from idling properly. It's a big hex-plug thing
screwed into the side of the throttle body just below the TPS, it has
a square plug with four wires coming out of it.

A faulty O2 sensor could cause this. When started the car is in open
loop and the sensor is ignored. After the car warms up just a bit the
ECM starts looking at the O2 sensor and if it's reading was totally
out of whack it cuold cause the engine to stall.

Does it stall as you come up to a light? Will it restart in neutral
or park? If so, it could be the TCC solenoid has failed.

checked the tps, the ics, and the agr, they all test fine, now it won't even
start, if you floor it, it fires but doesn't start (except occasionally like
maybe 1 time a day)
