.Hi guys
My car a 1985 Gt wont start :( well if I let it sit for a day try and
start it will start for about 3 sec. then die wont start after that. I
don’t know if its a problem with fuel or not. It almost sounds like
its not sparking it just cranks over. It was working great about 2
days ago. then it rained really really hard and my car was in about 1
foot of water but I don’t know how that would effect it. I know it
worked 1 hour before the storm but not after it. Any help would be
great. :?:

Check your ignition module-- it is located inside the distributor under
the rotor--these go bad and will produce your symptom

You should also check the fuel pump. If it works intermittently it may be
starting on the residual fuel in the lines. There is a procedure in the
repair manual for testing if it is a relay or the pump

well i just checked the fuel pump i works but not when i turn the
key??? i checked it through the relay...but if i turn on the key (when
its all put together) it does not work??? i check the fuel pressure
relief valve to see if there was pressure when i turn the key...maby
my fuel relay switch is bad?? and another thing any one got a pic of
what wire goes to the trunk solenoid and also the clutch peddle
switch. The person who owned it before me cut a few wires, they set it
up so i push a button to start it its annoying. i wanna have it so i
turn the key to start it. (its the yellow and purple wires that are
disconnected) and i dont under stand the wiring diagrams 8) thanks

My 85 GT did this and I fought it for a long time.
Finally a pro found that the starter connections were loose. Didn't make
sense but fixed the deal
