I have a four speed 6 cylinder 85 GT. I need to replace the flywheel
and would like to know if there is anything else I should have checked
or replaced as preventative maintenance while the engine is out since
it is such a costly procedure. Thanks for your help.

Things to check:
Release fork.  Prone to the tips cracking off.
Replace the release bearing (that just goes without saying!).
Closely inspect the rear main seal.
Check the pan gasket at the back (it CAN be changed later, but it's easier
to inspect now).
Check the cam cover seal for leaks.
Weeping at the expansion plugs.
Check the slave for ANY signs of leakage (gotta be the #1 or #2 most
replaced part on a Fiero!)
