On my 88 Formula first start in the morning it surges from 500 rpms' to
1500 rpms for the first few minutes. Any ideas????

Any stored trouble codes? Could be a stick IAC or marginal TPS,
vacuum leaks, etc.

No codes, after about 3 minutes it is normal.

My 88 Formula does the same thing (it has always done this). Usually after
the engine temp reaches optimum temp it stops. I've always figured it was
something it was programmed to do.
