Hello,
I recently put my 88 GT back on the road after sitting for some two years.
The exhaust needed work so I took it to the local Midas and was informed
that the car has major rust problems. I believe I need to replace the cradle
and much of the front end components and steering column.

Can someone please recommend mechanics in Eastern Mass?

If you want to take a look. Pic is rather large for you modem users.

Nice pic, but it doesn't show the rust. If the cradle is rusted that badly,
you need to look at the frame rails right above and behind the rear wheels.
You may need to pull the inner fender liners to see them. I've seen them
rusted completely through. If this is the case, you need serious structural
repairs, as the cradle may be the only thing holding the rear end of the car
together.

I have an apt with a local gas station next weekend to put the car on their
lift and check it out. I will familiarize myself with the frame rails from
the manual and make sure to inspect as you suggest.

Thank you.

"Eastern" Mass is pretty large. I'm betting you are down-Cape? If
you're close to New Bedford then let me know and I'll refer you to
someone.
