Sunroof question

I picked up a 86 a few months ago it has a sunroof on it. I removed
the roof panel and tranfered it to my 85. The seal and seal track were
in really poor shape the 86 had alot of water damage. I purchased new
tracks and seal from the Fiero Store and installed them I inserted the
glass panel but there is a air gap in the back so I added some shims
to the latch area which gets it to press lightly to the gasket but not
enough to stop water from coming in plus it makes it snap really hard.
I notice it the front its faily tight if I try to slip a credit card
from the inside under the glass above the gasket it will not push in
but in the back and sides it slides right in. Any help would be great
I reinstalled my old top for now but would really like to be able to
use the sunroof panel.

Check the clips in the front to make sure they are not bent. I had this
happen to mine and I replaced the clips for a better seal. I'm not sure if
it will change the gap as much as you say yours is but it may help a little
