Anything going on here? Don't tell me that the Fiero group is dying... I haven't finished restoring my 84 Sport yet! Don't go!!! Clutch is not disengaging, and I am pulling the engine this weekend and getting it out. What else do I need to replace whilst I am in there? I have the steel pedal, I have welded the small cracks in the clutch arm, I am going to try and find new fork shaft seal. Anything else? 64K miles, runs fnatatstic. JS 84 Sport Coupe Don't screw around with welding up the release arm - Fiero Store has the GOOD cast ones. Check (very closely!) the tips of the release fork. They are prone to wear and cracking. If it does crack and fail, the tip can act like a projectile and blow a hole in the tranny.... want photographic evidence it can happen?? ;) Do the CV output shaft seals while you're there. Tighten up the bushings on the tranny for the shift arms. (and the groups not dead... it's just resting...) > Anything going on here? Got the engine out, waiting on the pressure washer to get here so I can clean it up before I get to work on the clutch. On a side note, anyone know a good way to repair the dash vent where your knee hits it getting in and out of the car? The bottom is wrecked, only thing wrong with the dash, save the radio pod vinyl is coming off (of course). How do you fix that too? How do you fix that too? I tried once before, never had >much luck with glue... The Fiero Store (www.fierostore.com) sells dash corner caps, part number 61301, for $59.95. I've never used the caps, so I can't tell you how they look installed, how they fit, etc. Wow, that is expensive. Thanks, i didn't know that they had those. Finally got everything broken down last night. Findings: one for finger broken off. The other fork finger bent backwards. Clutch and PP actually look OK. Inner bushing fairly siezed up, TOB looks ugly. Now for the question: How do I change the fork? Do I need to solder it off, athen back on, or weld it, or what? I can't see a way to remove the fork (it was dark though) You need a semi special tool to do it (or you might be able to fake it). Roughly: you remove the release arm. Pry out the seal. The bushing gets knocked in (here's where the tool comes into play). Shaft slips up, then out. New shaft goes in, new bushing goes in, new seal. Tada! Do you know if the fork will come with the seal and bushing? I am going to buy AC Delco parts if I can find the part numbers. Inner one is optional. Just depends on if yours is munched. Wiggle the shaft a bit and check for slop before you tear it down. New one will not come with bushing or seal. > Thanks!
