NEWBIE -  New 86 Fiero GT owner / Brakes question / Keyless entry recommendation

Just bought my 86 Fiero GT off the original owner - has 139k miles and came
with a spreadsheet detailing maintenance, oil changes etc since the car was
new.  Sat in a carport all it's life so she is in pretty good shape.

My question is this - my brakes seem like they almost want to grind on hard
stops.  If I am going to get them repaired, should I buy the brake kit from
Fiero Store which upgrades them to Grand Am type brakes?  Not sure how best
to approach this one, wouldn't mind hearing from anyone with a low cost and
good solution.

I've been enjoying the car.  Just bought a more recent Pontiac / Delco CD
player off eBay I'm going to drop in as well as that keyless entry system JC
Witney sells for $48 shipped.  Apparently you can drop it in in about two
hours and the keyless remotes even have a trunk lid release you can hook up
if your car is equipped.

Pictures here of the new ride are here:

If you change the rear brakes to the Grand Am type, you will loose your
parking brake. The standard Fiero brakes are fine for daily driver,
if you were 'racing' the car, I'd consider changing them.
Standard Fiero pads & rotors aren't that expensive, the calipers,
might seem to be, but compair them to other rear wheel disc
brake systems and you'll see they aren't that bad.  I WOULD
suggest you replace the 'rubber' brake lines ( to the caliper )
all around the car to the stainless steel ( braided ones).
The ones used by GM on the car tend to collapes on the
inside, and will hold pressure on the caliper even tho you
are not pressing on the brakes.
