My cruise control works fine with the following exception which has cropped
up on this years frist outing. Cruise is not disengaged completely when
putting on the brake and releasing. With cruise engaged (and cruising) as
long as the brake is held down a little the car will coast (no throttle) but
as soon as the brake is released the car wants to resume speed (throttle
back on) as long as the speed is above appx 25mph. The only way to stop the
car from moving is to turn off the cruise switch on the column (or hold the
brake down till 10-15mph).
Any ideas - worked fine last fall (stored since)
85GT v6, Automatic, Loaded with all options, 13,000 original miles, stored
it's entire life, never driven in the rain or on gravel road, everything on
car is original except engine oil.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The clue is that there isn't (87SE man) an automatically resume-when-brake-released option. Braking
or clutch disengages the cruise completely. Since turning the main cruise switch off shuts off the
cruise there is little reason to believe the speed control is defective or that the actuation is at
fault.
There are two switches on the brake pedal. (At least on an 87 SE)
One switch lights the brake lamps. The other disengages the cruise control.
It is likely the cruise switch is mis-adjusted or broken. I'd check the schematic to see whether
with the brake off if it is normally open or normally closed.
They are sort of self adjusting in that they have ratchets. The switch is placed to be too far out
and the pedal causes the ratchet to push the switch back.
I've had some similar problem with the clutch starter cutout switch, a problem you won't have. Mine
is usually fixed by pushing the switch back to where it belongs.
