I picked up a 85 GT last summer the key will not turn into the
accessory position is this normal ?

I have a 86 6 cyl not a GT its a parts car it barely turns to the
start position without jiggling it and will not turn to accessory
position either.

My 85 SE has a accessory position.

I am thinking of getting a new switch lock.

Thanks
Hank

All cars are supposed to be able to have the key turned to the accessory
position.

Then it would have problems in both directions.

No problem in the start position direction.

Last summer I was working on the radio and had it in the on position
car parked on hill in driveway for about an hour. The gear shift was
in reverse and the lights were on and the sun was shining on the lens
and they melted as a result.
