Hi everyone,
just bought a Fiero again earlier this week. 1986 GT with grey interior /
red paint.
Had quite an adventure getting the car home though. Alternator was shot,
as I found out when driving down the highway and I eventually lost all
electric power. Put a new battery in as I didn't know if it was a battery
or alternator problem at the time. But as I was driving the remaining 100
miles home, it became clear the problem was with the alternator. Made it
home though!
Brakes felt like total crap too, so took the car to the shop the next day.
Results:
New alternator as expected.
Front caliper frozen, both replaced.
Rear calipers leaking, both replaced.
Front shocks leaking, both replaced.
Engine / Transmission though in very very good condition. Engine sounds
just wonderful and the oil is clean as is the transmission fluid.
Unfortunately the master cylinder decided to give up after actually
feeling brake pressure again with all the calipers being brand new. So on
Monday she is getting a new Master cylinder and should be good to go.
A/C needs a new evaporator too but that I'm going to worry about in the
near future!
I'm happy though that I finally have a fiero again. Used to have another
86 a few years ago until the engine cradle decided to break on that one.

There are more Formula's out there. I just bought my third one.
I put 375K miles (combined) on my first two Formulas.
They have been reliable cars. The first one died at 185K miles, only
because I neglected to check the oil properly. The second went to 245K.

i wrecked my 88 formula at 180 k it was still running good i had it
for 13 years
