Check for wobble in the distributor shaft. Also check the condition of the
magnetic pick-up coil at the base of the distributor. You may have noticed
when you replaced the module that the wires that go between the module and
the coil were probably ready to fall of of the pick-up coil. And finally,
check the ignition timing. You may have desturbed it when you changed the
module.

I believe this year the car ran with coil pacs. I would replace the
crank sensor instead.

Not unless he has a GT with a 4 cylinder engine.
No V6s have them.
