I am having a problem with the wiper switch. It works fine but the problem is when its in the off position and I hit a bump in the road or sometimes turn the steering wheel or use the directionals the wipers will wipe once or twice on there own. It is worse on rainy humid days. Anyone know if this is fixable or do I need a new swich or what. 85 GT Thanks Hank "Hank" ... >I am having a problem with the wiper switch. SignatureBill Fuhrmann You have moisture on the circuit board in the box that houses the wiper motor. Remove the single screw that holds the cover on and hit the inside with an air hose. Did you by chance use a garden hose at one point to clean out the front compartment? That is what happened to me once. The problem went away once I dried out the circuit card and put the cover back on. For some reason they chose not to use a gasket on that cover. No I did not hose it out BTW my 85 SE has the same problem only worse. The only electrical circuits in the stalk are related to the two cruise control switches. The wiper circuits are inside the steering column. It is unusual to have this problem with one car let alone two. The stalk must be taking a beating in those two cars. Anyhow, you may need to pull the steering wheels to get at the circuits. It is also possible that the screws that anchor the circuit assembly to the column have come loose. That can result in intermittent functions.
