valve disintergration

I took the head off my MG midget 1500 and have one shattered valve but
found parts in all the cylinders, really weird, any thoughts on this,
like if they could be sucked all the way around the manifold???

Thats exactly what happens. pieces go up through the intake valve on the
reverse pulse and scatter to the other cylinders!

So the tops of all the pistons are dented... would you tear down all
the way and put new pistons in ?

Yes. You also need to replace all of the valves -- there's a good chance that
the stems are bent.

There is a good chance that the bearings have taken a hit, too. Matal
fragments in an engine, like sand, get into EVERYTHING!
