Is it true that when Buddy Baker got in his pole sitting car for the
Daytona 500 in 1973, someone had stolen his gear shift knob?

NASCAR is (or used to be) very helpful at answering questions abut
their history and lore.

Did Buddy ever write a bio?  I'm sure that he would have mentioned it,
had he.
