Maybe they are recalling all the IFS Hilux/4Runners because they just
realised that they mistakenly put the front drive axles and diff out of
a Toyota Starlet in it
and they are going to rectify this situation by converting then all to
long travel coil sprung solid axles

I've died and gone to heaven?
My (I)nadequate (F)ront (S)uspension Surf has already eaten one diff.
Actually, to be fair, my gripe is not with the suspension, but with the
absurdly weak diff. The shafts, CV and tripods sort of look OK, at least
I've not borken any of them yet, but when I pulled the broken diff out, I
thought for a moment that someone had slipped a "ring-in" in place of the
genuine article.
Then I found that the Oz IFS Hi-Lux is similarly afflicted and I've
adopted the working theory that the diff is the "fuse" that prevent
damage to the rest of the front drive train.

Why not replace it with a locker, aparently much stronger than the
origional.
From what Ive read the diffs are quite good untill you lift a wheel and the
spinning unit hits the ground transfering all that torque straight to the
weak diff..... BANG.
If they are both driving theres no issue, in theory.
