I would have thought that the members of this news group would've arced up
big time about the 4x4 in the city debate currently inflamed by the cock on
the radio.  Or has everyone just unsubscribed due to lack of interest in
this group and are all debating (Arguing) on aus.cars?
Burnie M - 01 Oct 2005 00:52 GMT
It is not a debate, just a whole lot of preconceptions, most of which
are wrong.

There are only so many hundred times that you can point this out.

Ummm
What's to debate
we're all on the same team here

leave it to the tossers of aus.cars who don't know any better and
believe everything they see on TV

Yeah, just thought that there would be some sort of reaction to the hype.
Yeah I suppose you are right, we are all on the same side of the fence on
this issue.  Watching all the BS on aus.cars is like watching preschoolers
fighting over stale sandwiches.

Is there anyone that has actually defined a large 4x4? I think that my
4runner cant be in that catagory as its smaller in footprint than many
vehicles out there, it seven sorter than my 626 sedan.

Still cant see the big issue myself, maybe Im just one of these 40odd year
old fat pricks with nothing to like in life. (not that I am but isnt that
the catagory we are all in?)

I was surprised to find that our Disco is shorter and narrower than the
Magna we used to have.  It's all to do with perceptions of size.  One of my
work colleagues gave me a hard time because we have a 4WD until I asked him
what he drove and I found out it was a Holden Calais - all 5.7 litres of it.
And he reckoned that 4WDs are fuel guzzlers!  I agree that they're not easy
on the fuel but others need to look at what they're driving too!

what is there to debate?
Viviane - 01 Oct 2005 12:45 GMT
Which bright spark is it this time spouting this stuff on the radio?  I must
have missed this.  There was something in the Sydney Morning Herald earlier
this week which said that 4WDs are driven by obese men or yummy mummies
(north shore or eastern suburbs socialite mothers).  What about those of us
who don't fit into either of those groups?

doesnt want to hear.

Never heard of him.  Either I lead a sheltered life or he is a "nothing".
Probably the latter.

City public perception appears to be Osama Bin 4wdrivin. But there again,
they want to make Central Australia into a nuclear waste dump too ! If the
stuffs so harmless, let em store it in Canberra.
Personally I don't care what people drive, as long as they drive well !!
