G'day

Can someone tell me how to program my new keyless remote for a 2001 model
100 series cruiser GXL. The method described in the Gregories workshop
manual does not work??

If you're in the outback, in the middle of nowhere, I suggest a high powered
rifle.

Aim for the petrol tank.

Next time, buy a 4wd WITHOUT such useless crap like this.

If you're stuck in a shopping centre, ignore the above.

Nah, never been into the Nissan Vs Toyota debate. I don't like the look of
the 100 series though, and (back to the original post) I think any 4wd with
"luxury" electronics is just plain stupid. If you can't wind down your
windows or use a bloody car key, but a Falcadorre~!
Bristan - 20 Oct 2005 01:10 GMT
So cars dont get pinched in the bush /country/deep north ???
Nowdays its worse than the city in some country areas.
Just carry a spare key!!
A very effective anti-theft device is hardly a luxury.
The cars will not start without the correct key of which 4 are supplied.from
new with an LC100 There is a chip imbedded in the key itself. The doors will
open with key only and the remote is not mandatory.
I have never felt as confident leaving a car as I do with this system.
I take two and keep in seperate places and there are always another two at
home in a safe place.

What model of Jap 4wd do you drive then
 I think not a toyota.
Rocatanski - 18 Oct 2005 22:23 GMT
Barnsey Barnsey Barnsey you are in denial, deep deep down you knowyou would
love a Toyota. Think back to when you were towing the camper up that big
hill and a Toyota just pulled out and past you, we all know you sat there
and said "I don't care" but deep down you were really saying " Gee I wish I
could do that".

Don't know about you - I prefer to open my vehicle using the door handle..
not by blowing the thing to pieces.

Ah! but the vehicle to which I was referring to in my musings was a
Thames Trader. They didn't come in 4WD either.

Still, in the original movie the vehicle ultimately attacked was an
amoured  Series Landrover, so that at least was a 4WD.

Now, you were saying?

Leyland almost got there with the Moke
just couldn't quite get the drive to the rear wheels

Now looking at the Moke wheel base, and that of say an all coil Sierra

I'd like to see one though.
4WD Twin cam Supercharged 2.0 Litre Mini would be real fun car to drive. I
cant seem to find one in the MG Catalog though for some reason.

will outline it in steps for you:)
1. Lock and then unlock car with existing remote which works.
2. get in car and shut door (make sure all doors are closed
3. insert ign key in barrel and turn from lock to on 20 times within 15
seconds (finishing in lock position)
4. if you have done it correctly hazard lights will flash 20 times to show
you your are in accept mode.
5. press button on new remote (hazards flash to confirm it has seen remote)
6.press buttons on existing remote/remotes (hazards flash to confirm)
7. when finished adding remotes turn ign key from lock to on and back once
8. hazards flash to confirm your out of accept mode.
Hope this helps, if you need any more info yell out
Cheers

I have a question about the wiring of the rear doors

I need the wiring diagram for the GXL tailgates and the STANDARD rear
doors

I need to get the electric lock to work
for some reason Toyota decided to change the rear lock in the 80 series
and in the 100 series place the key lock in the lower tailgate, this
operates the electric lock in the top tailgate

a couple of other things I need to get working are the rear wiper and
tailgate mounted tail/brake and indicators

so i really need the wiring diagram for both rears(STD & GXL)

then the next thing I have to find is that bloody annoying A/C cutout
switch, when the engine temp goes a bit above normal the A/C switches
off, just what you want when it's bloody hot, and I think the switch in
mine is faulty

Lot's of luck.
About all you can really do, if yours is wired similar to mine, is defeat
it. It's the ECU that's doing the turning off, so unless the sensor
itself is faulty the best you can do is over-ride it.

And if yours is an automatic, just wait till the day you get the box a
little hotter than normal, the bastard won't change above second then and
(not likely to be a problem with the AWD 100 series) will only select low
range 4WD.

I do not approve of vehicle electronics second-guessing me, right up there
with talking toasters and elevators.

Ummm
1Hz diesel, no ECU on the engine

the 80 series 1HZ has a engine coolent temp switch on the A/C
AutoElec says there are electronics controlling the A/C and heater
controls. the heater has no valves to turn it off and on, the water is
flowing through it all the time, They just control where the air flows.

Strange thing that happens is when I switch to recirculate it gets icy
cold, but on flow through it only gets mildly cool, Autoelec is gonna
have a look sometime this week as he has to check for leaks after
regassing 2 weeks ago
