I've camped with the family in the Wonnangatta Valley last Easter, looking
for something similar, but not quite so far from Melbourne?
Maybe around the Jamison direction? (I'm in Bendigo)
Green, river, quiet...I'm sure you get the idea.

Any clues?

Pyrenees over near Baccus Marsh.
Plenty round Jamieson, but is packed to standing room

Hmm...
We went there (pyrenees) one weekend, unfortunately so did a moto-x
championship.
Managed to find a quiet spot on a ridge up the far corner, but can't vouch
for the river, having not seen it.

You wont find anywhere with a river quiet this time of year. Ya take
what you can get really

I have'nt had a good look at this as I'm over here in "The West", but
