I have just purchased a 1 litre stainless steel "Thermos" brand vacuum flask. The model is
the "WORK" flask. The flask seems to retain its water temperature for many hours, while
the flask is left upright on the kitchen bench. However on first use, I discovered the
threaded stopper will not screw down tight while there is hot water in the flask! The
result is not so hot water when I need it.
Can anyone recommend a good quality 1 litre plus Stainless Steel vacuum flask that also
has good temperature retention (90°-95°C after 2 hours)
Cheers
Keith
Take it back - exchange it. We have always used "thermos" and found them
great at heat retention. They have a warranty, it could be a faulty one. We
took one back once, with me carrying on about what a rip off etc. Hubby
being the silent type, just told me to shhh, exchanged it and we are still
using it about 10 yrs later, still hot, still great.

I have to agree, I had a similar problem with the screw cap stripped and
wouldn't tighten. I took it back for a replacement.
Check the bottom of the flask for warranty details, some had a life time
warranty.
The one I am using now I have had for years and still going strong.

Given there is a lengthily warranty, I'll have another go at thermos
Thanks for the feedback

I've had a variety of brands of vacuum flasks including well known brand
name ones but I've found the cheap unknown brands from Kmart work just
as well.
The one I've been using daily at work (truck driver) for the last 2 yrs
doesn't even have a brand on it and it keeps water hot enough to make
coffee all day and from memory it cost less than $20.00 from Kmart.
IMO the expensive brand name flasks are a waste of money.

Nope, stainless like the brand name crap that costs 10 times the price
and lasts a fraction as long.

But you're not getting a special brand name vacuum, but some generic
absence of air pressure.

Woolies made the glass ones too.
Update - I returned the flask today. The replacement was tested with hot water. The screw
cap failed. So its back to Woollies for a refund.

Did you perhaps have too much water in it? Water isn't compressible, so I
imagine you wouldn't be able to screw the lid down properly if it was
overfull.
