Hi Guys.

I use Tracks4Australia and Garmin mapping products, mainly on my laptop.

Is anyone familiar with the Ozi Explorer program?

It seems quite good, especially with the 3D add on, but it does not come
with any maps.

Any idea's or suggestions?

Garry, Oziexplorer works well for me. The Natmap series can be had for nix,
and they can be easily exported into Ozi. Check the Ozi site for more info.

Cheers

Thanks Jim.

I didn't notice anything about them on the site but I will go back and have
another look.

NSW LPI maps can also be downloaded for nothing, they dont have "full"
detail but work well.

http://www.lands.nsw.gov.au/MapsAndPhotos/GeoSpatialPortal/default.htm

There is also a utility called "maprequest" (google?) that will send
the correct requests to various servers to download maps you want.

The 1:250K maps are through this link

Joe, thank you very much. Your a legend.

Mind you though, I am not specifically after free maps. I don't mind paying
for them.

I just hadn't been able to find any!!

Thanks Axel.

I would have to get a bigger snorkel if I were to drive to Germany though.
Getting across the creek between Australia and Indonesia gets a bit deep in
places!!!!

Forgot to add, I think you can't download maps until you've
'contributed' by posting to the forums (either 2 or 10 posts?),
policy changed some time after I'd been using the site.
