For those in Central Queensland looking for some fun 4WDing there is a great
place called Goodnight Scrub National Park near Booyal, about halfway
between Childers and Gin Gin.
Some of this area is about to go underwater after the construction of the
new Paradise Dam and so a lot of good tracks will get flooded.
Have a look at some photo's at
http://groups.msn.com/BCYC/paradisedam.msnw
The photo's of me in my old Nissan Patrol TD going through the swollen river
show the main track which will disappear as the river rises a further 50
feet as the dam fills.
Parts of this area seem to have been an old forestry plantation and there
are tracks, some very rough, overgrown and steep that will keep you going
for a couple of days, although the park itself is not that big.
We followed a couple of tracks yesterday up and down gully's, that looked
like they had not seen a 4WD in many years.
If anyone wants any Garmin GPS mapping tracks just email me and I can send
them to you.
Regards
Garry

Know it well, I did my early growing up in Wallaville.
Do you know why it's called the "Good night swamp"?

My mate lives at Wallaville in River Pines Drive.
I was told it is called Goodnight Scrub because the scrub was so thick that
any farmer who's cattle ever wondered into the scrub would never be found
again. So if you cattle strayed into the scrub it was Goodnight!!
That was what I was told anyway.
The new dam has been completed at the south Eastern end of Good Night Scrub
and a fair bit of the lower southern area's will be disappearing under
water.
