Hmm!
The Nigerians are at it again. For the last week I (or more correctly
my mail server) has seen in excess of 250 spam emails per day, of which
around 10 per day get through. The 10 that get through are all
correctly addressed which is amazing because that address hasn't been
on anything public for years now.
I suspect someone, somewhere has bought millions of email addresses and
is usign them knowing full well that only a small fraction of 1% will
even still be active.

Someone is obviously going through some servers that don't give a crap what
you do with their bandwidth, wonder how you would go if you started using
your Bigpond Broadband to mail spam out to all the alpha-numeric
combinations of 12 letters on all listed ISP's.
This crap must be slowing internet down for other users, the only thing , I
can think of is maybe ISP's should charge even 1c per email or likewise for
those that "bounce" and send them back to the original sender so you clog
their sending with recieving and perhaps piss off their ISP.

I'm getting regular emails from the postmaster at a domain I own . the
post master account doesn't exist and the senders ip is a helstra
account in WA . the mydoom attached is very obvious , and helstra don't
care .
Added to this the 400 emails a week from the nigeria thing until I
blocked the cblock...

I also get that post master (post master at my isp) with a virus attached
one. Most of the rest of the spam is from peddlers of sex pills. I'm down to
3 or 4 a day getting through the filters now. A far cry from when I had to
change my email address.
I thought spam generated from inside Oz was supposed to be illegal now ?

Telstra will do nothing about customer machines that are "owned", just
as they will do nothing about their own customers who are in serious
breach of their use agreements.
The only time Telstra/Bigpond has ever taken action was when they were
subjected to a "Usenet Death Sentence" a couple of years back. It got
their attention when their users could not email anyone and nobody with
a telstra/bigpond address got any email.

If it is not solved soon I will have to forward this blokes details to a
person overseas , plenty of ports open so stopping it is easy
