Would a dodgy air flow meter on my NJ Pajero 3.5L cause it to perform
sluggishly?
By air flow meter, I mean the square thing just back from the air filter
box. And what are they worth to replace?

I'm not always right,
But I'm never wrong!

It sounds more like dirty injectors than a fuel flow meter but to answer
your question, YES it could have an effect if it is starting to fail and
sending the wrong information to your computer re air flow etc.

Injectors have already been cleaned 2 weeks ago. I priced an air flow meter
from Mitsubishi at over $500, but got a second hand one for $220. Problem
solved. Now I need a new fuel pressure regulator as well! They're only
around $180.

Good stuff. I thought an air flow meter would have cost much more than that
though.
I had to get one for a Rover a few years back and they were $2,500 back
then!!!
