There has been quite a bot of discussion about Rainbow Beach, Double Island
Point and the shipwreck.

I have driven along the beach at Rainbow Beach but as it was almost dark we
did not go very far.

I do want to go back and have a look at Double Island Point and also the
shipwreck on the other side.

Where are the fatal rocks that claim so many cars located?

Can you drive around Double Island Point or is there a track over the
headland?

Can you get to the lighthouse?

Best regards

Garry

If you have driven from Rainbow Beach to Double Island point you actually
must've driven over the Mudlo Rocks (You did as I did and drove it during
low tide with the rocks submerged in sand). There's a track that takes you
from the North side of the hill to the Cherry venture side of the hill, I
found it extremely easy to find, just follow the dickheads in their Rav4's,
Tributes, Jeeps (With 60PSI in all four tyres), and Bravos (Also with 60 PSI
in the tyres but 900kgs of unnecessary camping equipment in the rear tray)
that have bogged themselves in the softish sand entering the track.

I myself found it pretty damn easy to stick the V6 in 2nd High and drove
past a line of around 6 stuck dickheads in what I considered only reasonably
soft sand. Once on the track I found the traffic the worst part (It was the
day after boxing day and Santa was handing out 4x4s for Christmas) with most
people not being used to having to share the track.

The light house is an easy drive from the South side of the track and a
short walk up the hill, lovely little stroll.

Cherry venture wreck is not a long drive away at all, matbe 15min ish? I
didnt think that it was at all worth the effort as previously posted the
wrecks been almost completely dismantled.

We then preceeded to drive to Noosa along the beach.  What a fucken STUPID
idea to have an 80k speed limit along the entire length o fthe beach thats
got more kids playing on it than Micheal Jacksons lap.  I stuck to 50-60
through camping areas and every time was overtaken on both sides by
dickheads that couldnt give a sh.t where the kids where and saw more than
one stray child on the traffic path.

Oh well, it keeps the population down.

Thanks Scotty.

Some good information there.

When I was there I started to head towards Double Island Point but it was
getting dar and so I turned back to Rainbow Beach.

I doubt I made it past the rocks.

I would like to start out early one morning and do the lot, including the
run down to Noosa (trying to avoid the Rug Rat road kill).

Obviously this trip would be best suited to start out from Rainbow Beach at
low tide???

Best regards

Then you have to add to that the dickheads who insist on fishing on the
narrowest part of the beach where vehicles have to stop and let one
eachway go to get past it

this fool set up his chair and gear right at that point
cars passing(some at frightening speeds less than a metre from this fool
sitting in his chair

we always slowdown at the mere hint of kids that can and do run across
the beach, mostly travelling at around 60-70 for the camping areas

scary some of the foolish things you see
last time we were at Rainbow side with the jet skis this goos came past
in the soft sand with kids all sitting on the window sills, the youngest
looked to be about 4-5 years old, as the wet sand was only 5 metres wide
he had to drive up the steep dune to let other traffic past, as anyone
who has driven on soft wet sand will know how the vehicle rocks and
dives from side to side

some people really need to be taken out and beaten severly
