Having an 86 4 runner 2.4 was told the other day about
new diesel just hit the west here. What's the side effect of
running this Bio Diesel, and what's in it.
The old truck is old now with 360k on the clock don't
want to shorten its life.

Hi Sean.
My mate has been making his own Bio-Diesel for quite some time now, and runs
his old (late 80's) model Toyota Landcruiser on it and he has not had any
trouble at all.
He only uses his Bio Diesel and has not put any normal diesel in for well
over 6 months.
His wife, while he was away, recently used up all his stocks of Bio Diesel
and had to put in some normal diesel from the servo and she made the comment
that she did not think the car ran as well on the normal diesel.
I am not sure if there are any negatives about it, that I have heard anyway.
No doubt others may have a different story for you though.
Best regards
Garry

Instead of asking here, where opinions are a bit like bung holes -
everyone has one.
Why not use google and the words "bio-diesel" to appropriate effect,
you will find any amount of "testimonial" type comment from those who
have used bio-diesel, however you will also find hard scientific
investigations/evaluations/studies and trials.
Dunno about you, but I'd let those be my guide as to the possible long
term implications (if any) of using biodiesel in your particular
vehicle.
You will also find any amount of material that will tell you "what's in
it", and at any degree of complexity (or not as that case may be) that
you desire.

I have a 85 4Runner 2.4 (300K km) and have run it on 20% Vege Oil for a
while now with now problems. SAFF have about 40 outlets in SA but only 3
sell 100% bio diesel. The 4Runner is running sweet and I seem to be getting
better economy. I'm yet to try it staight.

I ran "Gull" 20% bio/Dino in WA recently and was pleased with the results.
