Folks,
Anyone had a look at the new Mitsubishi Triton Dual-Cab styleside
utes?
My first thought was a Gay Space-ship!
I'm sure they be an improvement over the previous model in performance
and comfort, but there aint no way I'd buy something that looks like
that...
My Paratus seats arrived for the Landcruiser today; hopefully I'll get
around to fitting them tommorrow. They look bloody good. They are
much better designed than the Toyota seats fitted to the standard
Landcruiser ute. I'll be interested to have a look at an RV ute now;
the seat mounting looks to be a bit of a bugger for the passenger
bucket seat.

of course Rod you are going to have it inspected and have the QLD Tpt
Modification tag for the removal of one seat to make it into a two seater?

Kev,
That's happening on Monday; assuming I dont kill the local bloke (who
can issue the mod certificate & tag) first...
He's a bit of a prat...
After I've forked out my $80 to get my new tag, I'm then going to QLD
Transport to have the rego changed to record 2 occupants (currently
says 3).
Cheers,

The prat turned out to be taking his 'be nice' meds today, and so it only took
an hour to have them certify the new seats and fit the mod plate.
Tag has been fitted, QLD transport are happy, and I now just have to ring my
insurer to let them know it's now a 2-seater.
Seats are a HUGE improvement in comfort over the originals. Probably more so for
the passengers seat, but I havent travelled in it yet (Not likely to for a
while, either!).

Yeah, the new Hilux was a bit of a gay-space ship when it first came out,
but people get used to them. It still doesn't look quite right, but I don't
wince like I used to! I haven't seen one in the flesh yet.

I drove both the petrol and diesel models.
They have improved quite a lot over the last model. Double wishbone
suspension makes the ride a lot better and the front end geometry is a lot
different, for the better.
The petrol motor has a bit more grunt, not that the old one was lacking, the
turbo diesel moves quite well also.
The cabin is bigger inside and there is more driver footroom and a footrest
in the manual , which I found a problem in the old one.
On the "Piss Off" side of things, the tray is 270mm shorter ( guess where
they got more legroom from) and the gear shift lever is on the left side of
the transmission with the 4wd lever on the right.
You don't notice the "Gay spaceship" appearance when you're driving it,
thats for others to worry about.
I think I prefer it to the Hilux gay appearance
Otherwise inside they aren't a lot different.
