Hi All.

I am led to beleive that toyotas are fairly bullet proof...  (anyone
seen that top-gear episide?)

So I'm thinking of getting an older one (Say early 1990's).  Problem
is, that the only ones I can afford seem to all have about 280,000km's
on them.

Specifically I was looking for a Hilux/4runner witha diesel engine,
but there seem to be a couple of cheap petrol models about too...

Any reccomendations/ things to look out for?

Thanks in advance

Any older vehicle needs repair and maintainance. And they will let you down
from time to time. Sometimes in a big way. This has nothing to do with the
badge on the front.
I've run older and newer Toyotas for 30 years and yes, they're "tough". But
so are other marques.
Look around for 4wd pages and groups that cover what you are interested in.
But check back here as some have  experience with those vehicles.
Good luck.

A 91  RV6 4Runner do you?

Hi Dan,
Did you end up buying something? I bought a 85 2.4 diesel 4Runner with about
195K on the clock.  It just covered 300K. I have had a few problems but what
else can you expect from a 21 YO offroader.

Hi.

Yes, ended up with a big blue gay-spaceship looking thing.  (2003
magna wagon, done 50K)
Not at all what I was origionally looking for, and less than 0.00001%
as fun as the Zook I traded in, but very practicle for my current
circumstances...  (and hopefully reliable)

I think I will have to save up for a little sierra or a stockman for
the weekends.....  Damn those things can go anywhere!
