And that's why most blogs have a readership of 1.
Every now and then I will hear about some material expert starting a blog.
If I'm interested in the material, then I will take a look. I don't know
the person, nor do I want to get to know them. Though, I'm happy to learn
from them. Not unlike subscribing to a newsgroup or reading a magazine. In
fact many journos and field-experts have their own blogs.

Actually there is a new forum site where industry experts (journos) and even
salesman from car dealerships regularly post and it looks quite good:
