With all this talk about buying second hand vehicles, I figure some of
you may know of a good engine re-conditioner/re-builder in Sydney.

OT, in that it is only out 1992 Mazada 2000 van,but it's performance
indicates that a major rebuild is approaching. Little body rust, so
worth it.

Our previous experiences with engine rebuilds was with a 1982 model
Mazada 1600 van, ex  rough courier (side looked like a lunar landscape)
and really jinked with motors; five in ten years. We are not impressed
with the general reconditioned offerings and want to find a really good
rebuilder as we have had little trouble with it.

The history of motors in that van was;
1) original, converted to lpg, replaced under warranty,
2) replacement, ??? it stuffed up two
....we purchased it very cheap.
3) radiator hose blew and we trusted NRMA knew what to do with refilling
hot engine = warped head, plus stuffed motor.
4) blew 5L of oil out the exhaust pipe in a week, big end stuffed.
5) water pump ground out and it over heated. As windows were very badly
rusted, we left it at Morrisett wreckers and purchased new van.

TIA

Agreed, even if you are unlucky and get a bad one you could buy another
and still be a long way in front.
