G'day all. Yes, it's been an amazing year so far. I've been whinging for
years about my life being boring and having no challenges........well, I've
got what I wished for, and more!

The mine job is going really well. It has been a hell of an introduction to
the industry though. The bloke who was supposed to induct and train me had
to take emergency family leave, so I was thrown into the deep end, so to
speak. On Saturday I had to manage a serious burn accident. It took the Qld
Rescue Chopper 4 hours to medi-vac the poor bloke. I was left on my own with
him in a VERY badly set up first aid room, waiting for the troops to arrive.
I'm glad I did the paramedics course just a few weeks ago.

(I urge all people who live in, or travel the outback to support the RFDS,
by the way. It's a great service)

Yep, it's been a wild year so far. I've just done a mine rescue course,
which finished yesterday. Walking around underground in pitch black, wearing
full breathing apparatus and all the gear.......... is something else.

It's great to be working in remote places again. The 8/6 roster is pretty
good too.............and the money is fantastic.

All good

Here's a few pics of my work car

Sounds like life is suiting you. Make sure you have that car primed up and
ready in May when I ride through those roads fighting the big trucks! We
have decided maybe to do some bush roads to escape them.
We had 3 inches yesterday and it is brewing again today so dont wash that
dirty vehicle just yet.
FYI I actually had ride in a RFDs plane when I was 8 years old. We lived at
Weipa which in those days. early 60s (showing my age LOL) was just a mission
and a backward mining camp and I had an accident which left me almost
bleeding out. I can still remember all the local aboriginals up on the strip
lighting fires so that the Doc could come in at 3am. Also remember the nurse
giving me a shot of Vit K and telling me to "shutup ! If you dont have this
needle you will die" Sheesh how times have changed.

Only to be beaten by Hot Fire Training, where you do that, looking for
dummy bodies in a simulated house fire situation in Shipping
containers, with real fire and sh.t round you...

Glad ya havin fun dude.

Hey Barnsey, shouldn't the sign on the front of that thing say
"YCNEGREME"?     ;-)

Print out the post, hold it in front of you - print outward - stand in
front of mirror.

Now do you see Kathy??????

PS you never did reply to my somewhat "coded" message as to which LBS
has pissed you about in Cairns.

I was worried about being liable. But it was the one that sells Trek and
there is only one in Cairns.
running off with the print out now

Firstly, don't worry about liability - there ain't none as you cannot
defame a shop. Well you can sort of, but don't worry about it.

And Yep, know that one, visited it once and have driven straight past
it every time since, and I do have to drive past it to get to any other
LBS.

In fact it is the attitude to customer service that pervades the local
shops that has led us to invest in sufficient tools to all bike maint
ourselves.

And at this point I'll stop as this has bugger all to do with
aus.CARS.offroad even if MTBs do go where 4WDs fear to tread.
