Im enjoying not seeing 10,000 cross posting idiots in here but DAMN ITS
QUIET!!!

Off to Double Island Point next week for a run and with luck may get to
cross over to Fraiser Island for a day or so's trip.
Hope its nice and Quiet at the moment.
Anyone know what the barge costs at the moment? If its extortion forget it,
Ill go when I have more time but if its under, say $60, a day trip will be
fine.

Hell I might even get to take the new BFGs off road for once. Bout flippen
time though, they been on there for 6 months now  :o(

I must be leading a boring life atm - I do come and look. So many idiots on
newsgroups at present that it sort of turns you off. I am in the midst of
planning 3 big outdoors trips -
1 - a 4 day hike over Easter into somewhere very secret and special which
involves a 100kms 4wd track to get to the start of the walk. If there is no
more rain up here we should actually get in and out. Be a bit of a bugger if
we get in and cant get out due to heavy rain LOL
2 - a 5 day hike in May well north of here into old mines, history,
escarpments etc which entails a 4wd start of approx 1.20kms over some great
old roads.
3 - hubby and I are arranging for a 23 day hike cross country from Weipa to
the tip of CApe York. We did the trip together by ourselves 5 yrs ago and
have been asked by 5 good walking mates to repeat the trip in July. Gawd who
has time for the net?

When not contacting landowners etc I am busy drying meat, fruit and vege for
supplies for our upcoming adventures

Are you still doing that bike ride Kathy?

If so, I better give you a safety brief about riding past our
mine.........and those damned road trains.

I'm working 8 on 6 off, so I don't get on the net much these days. I'm
having a great time at work, and making the most of my days off.

Mrs Barnsey came up (in her Nissan Pulsar) to visit me at the mine
yesterday. I gave her the tour around the pits and the underground, in my
Troupy ambulance.........then we drove to the Lynd, left her car there, and
went to Einasliegh over night (in my Patrol)

Two days off, then back to work on Weds. I'll be flying to work soon, so
there'll be less wear and tear on the Patrol (despite the fact I get free
diesel).

Yep we are still doing the ride. Leave here by bus to Rocky on the 20th
April. Start riding on the 22nd! Must be nuts LOL
We are thinking that we may leave the main drag below Greenvale and come out
at Conjuboy as I am freindly with the property owners there and we can give
them a few days dry food to keep for us. We probably will then stay on the
bush roads and come out at Gunnawarra - escaping those dreaded trucks
everyone is warning me about.
If we end up going up through Greenvale and across through the Lynd I might
ask you to tell all those truck drivers that we will get off and let em
pass. Just tell them to start tooting the minute they see us well ahead and
the full road is theirs.
Sounds like you have settled into your job

Mate went down to the 40-Mile Scrub last week and was scared shitless
by those trucks.  I gather they are *monsters*, one giant hopper on
the prime mover and three following trailers.  Usually travelling in
pairs it seems.

The problem he had was that it had been raining and many of the verges
were boggy as well as slippery.  With the trucks demanding the entire
narrow strip of tar, there was no option but to get right off to let
the buggers pass.  On top of that, it started to piss down raining so
he could barely see the bonnet, let alone on-coming traffic.

Ironically, Barnsey's trucks ended up helping him.  I gather he was
parked wondering about his next move, when one (two?) went past
going his way so he dropped in behind back to Garnet.

I'm told they'll take it anyway. :-)

And a question:  Are the bloody things taking ore *to* the treatment
plant; or are they taking concentrate *away* from it?  If the latter,
where to?  Townsville?  [ Maybe they're doing both? ]

Cheers, Phred.

We paid $75 when we went to Fraser just after Xmas.  A quick look at their
website shows that the price is the same - unless they don't update their
website.
