Any of you folks in NQ know if the CREB track is still accessible. I know a
couple of years ago there was a lot of pressure to close it.
Is it still open ?

As at January this year it is still open.
Parts of it are not for the faint of heart.
My understanding is that it is now on zero maintainence as all line
work is done by helo.

HI Richard,
http://www.wettropics.gov.au/media/med_issues.html#creb just click on Creb
track - the track is closed sorry. Unless you are on a bicycle you cant
legallly access the track.
It was open last year, closed for the wet and it has not reopened as yet.
Will be interesting to see if they do keep opening it up year in year out.
Tis a wonderful trip through there so it would be a real shame.

We'll be doing the trip on motorbikes so its "sort of legal ".
Thanks for the information. We'll check it out when we go. I'll keep an eye
on the newsletter.

All the better for a motorbike trip.We like a bit of a challenge.
I did a bike trip to the Cape in 04 and all the information I got at the
time was it was closed.
We went via Cape Trib etc and arrived at the Lions Den to meet some blokes
in 4WD's who'd just come up the CREB track
Good to see that they're sticking to the Beattie Governments maintenance
policy on all infrastructure.
Thanks
