Does anyone have a url for a car alternator repair guide.

Tried googling, but just the usual collection of pissheads promoting
themselves or selling stuff.

The one in the van clapped out last week and I'd like to repair it to
use it as a camp battery charger when we go bush again.

The major problem is getting it apart actually, aka how do I get the
rotor out.

solved that part. two blocks of wood, two pieces of square bar and a
large washer under the pulley nut, which then allwed me to tap off the
other (rectifier & brushes end).

Now looking to desolder a few bits to test diodes and capacitor, then
work out if it s cheaper to just buiod a new external unit or buy exact
parts (space & compactness not being an issue for the project).
