I have a 2.8 Turbo Diesel Pajero wagon that has just had a service.
However, due to cold setting in down here in Melbourne it is getting very
hard to start in the mornings.  I have had the glow plugs replaced, but
still have the same problem.  Someone has suggested that it could be the
injectors.  If this is the case, what sort of cost am I looking at for:
a.  new/reconditioned ones
b.  to get them fitted.
If it is not the injectors, can anyone suggest could be the mechanical
problem causing the car to be hard to start.
Thanks
Rick

Run a bottle on Wynns injector cleaner through it and see if that improves.

Is it blowing lots of black smoke and using lots of fuel?
If not its not likely to be an injector problem.
A bit more info might help, how old is it and how many klms has it done?
Does it crank over properly or is it a bit slow?
How long do the glow plugs stay on for, I don't know a lot about your
model but some glow plug systems work on a timer, if the timer cuts out
too early the glow plugs won't get hot enough.
Does it start easily when its hot?

Blows a bit of smoke at start-up and when under load (going up hills)
Car is my sons and it is a 95 Pajero that has done about 200,00km
Cranks over fine
Unsure how long the plugs stay on for
and it will start ok after it has been running for a while and then stopped.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Rick

After 200,000 klms it wouldn't hurt to have the injectors looked
at although I doubt thats your problem.

That could be the problem, depends on the system but my old
diesel Cruiser needed at about 60 secs on a cold Melb morning.

That make me even more suspicious of the glow plug timer.

It appears it was the glow plugs.  They have been replaced and it seems to
be better.  Thanks for the advice

I thought you said the glow plugs had already been replaced?
Did they fit the wrong ones?

Or the first year fitted them and broke them in the process.

Either way reasonable compensation should be offered.
