Hi all
I'm thinking of buying a 6cyl vitara 96-98 model.
What are peoples' experiences with these?
Can anyone post any links to reviews?
I'm after a cheap to buy and run 4x4 with genuine off road ability
which will spend most of it's days going to work down the highway.
In particular I would like to know if they cruise semi-quietly on the
highway and what their milage is?
I'm taking it as read that it will be good off road and fairly
reliable
many thanks
cheers

Hmm a Vitara good offroad??
Maybe not as good as you'd like, low clearance and small wheels and
independent front suspension don't make for a good offroader, you might
as well buy a Subaru, X-trail, Rav4 etc
as far as I am aware it's only real competition is the Kia Sportage as
it also has a low range
the 6 cyl uses a lot of fuel for the size of the thing also, it runs at
quite high revs so would probably be noisy as well

maybe you should be looking at something a bit larger and in a turbo
diesel, A Pajero/Challenger, Toyota Surf, Jackaroo,
all theses will have similar performance on road as a V6 Vitara and
probably better fuel economy and be much better offroad
