OK, so I've waited a week for a response.
Kev: Why should Toyota be worried? Did I mention Toyotas? What the f.ck
has Toyota got to with anything I said? Do you and your vehicle have an
inferiority complex? Has this got something to do with "my dick's bigger
than yours"? I don't get you. But then, I'm a grown-up. And, yes, Toyota
was also in the running for the army contract, and they were beaten
fairly and squarely by the G-wagen. The G-wagen is used by more armies
than any other 4WD - it's a military vehicle that has been retrofitted
for civilian use, not the other way around. So just piss off, you twat.
I have owned many 4WDs in my life, and I acknowledge that there is no
"best" 4WD. Often while on a deep sandy track in my G-wagen I wish I
still had my AMC Jeep CJ6 with that awesome, throaty Hornet under the
bonnet. I have owned many dirt bikes in my time and, many years ago when
I was a journalist for a bike mag, I used to meet people like Biggus,
Scotty and Kev when I was out testing a new model, and I stopped at a
servo or in a small town: "My dad/big brother/uncle has a Kawazuki and
it's better than your Honda/KTM/BMW/etc", and so on. Granted, they were
moslty kids whose balls hadn't dropped yet. Kev, Biggus and Scotty, do
your parents know what you're doing on the internet?

Seems to me that your protracted carry-on of the matter has begun to
undermine your high ground.
You are right about Bogus, Scotty is just easily led, Kev however is
usually the source of sensible responses so how about you show your
moral superiority on this occasion and let it slide?
I was interested to see that G-Wagen won the contract, and whilst I've
no doubt that it is a fine vehicle I have provisionally placed that
decision up there with buying Abrahams tanks, C17s, the joint strike
fighter and a few other utterly nonsencial defence decisions made
recently.

yeah we had a guy here who would not accept any criticism about his
Freelander, no matter how light hearted(which most of it is) it was
got on his high horse and crapped on about how superior it was over
other vehicles, just made himself look like a complete goose and lost
any credibility he may have had(made even worse when the engine crapped
it's self 2 yers later to the tune of almost $10,000)
I don't believe ANYONE suggested that this G-Wagen was not a capable
offroader
the joke(and that's all it was) was about the numbers of these things on
our roads
so ya had ya week end
how about some trip reports on it and maybe some links to some pics

Umm I dont belive that any of us actually bagged the vehicle at all.
For all your bleating and moaning (see drivel above) all you succeeded in
doing was showing us what little humour youhave.
The Joke that was made (and you failed to see the funny side of) was that
there just isnt that many of those vehicles around on our roads.
How about you do a nice full review for us (and the lurkers) to read so we
may indeed be enlightened as to this vehicles full capabilities, until then
may I suggest that you read the posts here with a salt shaker handy.
