Funny enough, we brought a Valiant once for dad that seemed to have a
stuffed motor. And a couple of mechanics driveway diagnosis agreed, I found
a set of cleaned plugs in the glovebox and decided to throw them in, then it
went like a rocket for a day till they fouled up again, got the carby
rebuilt and problem solved :)

It's actually No.3 and the "fault" as near as I can figure is a
combination of buggered oil rings in that pot and a dodgy plug lead to
that cylinder.
If you have ever seen the plug caps on a VG30E engine you
willunderstand why I'm not rushing out to buy news ones for a car that
owed me $500 a year ago.
In th emeantime I've bought a few spare plugs and i'll happily feed
them to it as the incumbent is "eaten"

Quick leak down should offer an idea about bore or guide ?
