# L1-P1

"keys2drive is an Australia-wide education program for new drivers, their
supervisors, and driving instructors working together towards the goal of
zero harm in the first six months of P plate driving. It aims to make newly
licensed driving much safer."

This item kicked off (December 15, 2004) as part of the then governments
plan for a "National Driver Training Scheme", which has developed to date,
into that which you see 'harmonsing' around each State and Territory, as the
graduated L, P1 and P2 system, and its emphasis on the defensive driver
components.

This is an attempt to remedy some of the bad driving habits parents pass on
to their their kids.  Basically, a single free lesson for ALL learner
applicants across the country, it is hoped some will then take additional
training.

This program is now running in TAS and will soon extend to other
jurisdictions.

Having seen how some "Driving Instructors" (for want of better words) act, I'd rather take
my chances with the parents ...

Best we do nothing then, eh?.

I have seen one or two odd ones, so it might help in that Australia is to
set about 'Certifying' driving instructors, in regards the-system and its
defensive driver components.

I seem to remember years ago there was a course and exams an instructor
HAD to pass to get a driving instructor permit , I gather it's now some
cert in driving skills ?
but now the assumption is the held license will suffice ?
