ken \(good grief it's upside down\) - 05 Feb 2004 07:37 GMT Looks like the hj60 that I was looking at is not worth thinking about but what about a series 80 1990 petrol 265,000 for $12,800. plain jane poverty pack no extras - no bull bar, no steps, nothing. I'd say it's a little dear but then maybe not?
ken \(good grief it's upside down\) - 05 Feb 2004 08:25 GMT forgot to ask - what's the fuel consumption like on these?

Jim - 06 Feb 2004 00:18 GMT The early 80 series had the 3FE motor in it..NBG. Changed later to 4.5L which is a great motor but very thirsty as in 20-25l /100k. Older 80 will need mechanics looked at. Look on ebay.com.au for some later and diesel sales. ken \(good grief it's upside down\) - 08 Feb 2004 06:43 GMT roflol - ok I asked for that. More importantly probably is the extent of the lack of fuel economy compared to a diesel and the age old trade off against rebuild/purchase costs etc. I was just wondering how bad the petrol engines are these days as I haven't had one in a wee while and the last one was a patrol and I needed a fuel tanker on a trailer to go anywhere.
> if sir needs to ask about the fuel consumption, then sir may be better > served at say....... a Nissan dealer? kevcat - 08 Feb 2004 11:34 GMT apparently the new 4.7l V8 uses less fuel than the old 4.5l straight 6
of course I see lots of people filling their petrol cruisers and Patrols and they seem to be still standing there after everyone else has gone,

I was filling both tanks every 700 to 750 klm. It takes 120 litres to fill it from empty. Thats in a 95 4500 80 with 230,000 on the clock. It is a manual, was carrying 5 people and a shitload of luggage, air con on all the way and cruising at 110 where legal.

Rocatanski - 07 Feb 2004 09:28 GMT It's a 40th ann late 97 model Oct onwards, 4.5 lt petrol GXL with c/c, cd,6 speaker tape, factory tint, electronic rust prevention, ming treated, service books, air,tow bar, bull bar driving lights 40th ann trim and alloys etc, 122k's. I will be asking about $28k. But as I said the bike has to be on the road first. If you are after a turbo diesel in this model good luck, I have seen 1 for sale in 6 months and the bloke wanted $50k for it, they are as rare as rocking horse s#it. I have been looking for one myself.

It's probably not "appropriate" to look at some sort of population control or whatever for Mexicans. But it is of note that we do seem to have far fewer so-called "social" problems up this way.
And I don't actually, nor has anything I've said today indicated, that I *blame* anyone for anything. I don't *blame* you for where you live, how could I and why would I? Just so long as you and all your porblems stay there, that's just fine by me.
Or are you trying to say that I have a problem recognising that you have a problem. Or something equally stupid?

Please pass this around to all your Mexican mates. There is nothing to see or do in Queensland and the 1,000,000 or so of your former Mexican mates who moved here in the past 5 years are just as deluded as we are..... Much better in North Melbourne or West Sydney...............

I don't know what the two of you are bitching about. You both live in very pleasant parts of one of the best countries on earth in which to live (driving standard excepted). Sure Qld is different to Vic and vice versa but a little diversity is good surely? Believe you me guys they are both _so_ much better than most other places.

troopie - 27 Feb 2004 12:19 GMT I'LL END THIS DEBATE.
SO FAR NO ONE HAS CHOSEN TO MAKE MENTION OF THE LESS THAN POOR STANDARD OF BEER IN QUEENSLAND.
I MEAN, LOOK WHAT REPETITIVE SKINFULLS OF XXXX DID TO BARNSEY?? HE'S GOT RE-MARRIED. EVEN ANIMALS ARE ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY.
CONCLUSIVE PROOF THAT THE ROTTEN sh.t THEY SELL AS BEER IN OUR 'SUNSHINE' STATE MUST WREAK HAVOC ON WHAT BRAIN CELLS ARE POSSESSED BY THE FEW WHO ACTUALLY HAVE THEM IN QUEENSLAND.
HERE ENDETH ARGUMENT. MEXICANS GOT IT BETTER.

mudgutz - 17 Feb 2004 21:55 GMT as a bloke whos lived both in gods country and in mexico tony i can say that your previous statement is rubbish ....there are as many social problems up there as we have down here.........eg we cant drive through liverpool without fear of getting shot by the odd angry lebo youth who cant assimilate into our culture as you my friend cant drive/park your car/take your missus near any pub full of blackfellas in any town qld for fear of a beating/malicious damage from a pack of drunk abo youths who also cant assimilate into our culture maybe if mr beattie didnt sweep it all under the carpet you may be able to see some of your social problems. did you know that you get propagandered by your media every day .......i used to laugh everyday i read as newspaper in qld what a joke they are
> > > Typical uneducated Mexican view...... Most of the extractive industry > and [quoted text clipped - 19 lines] > > Tony Smith Jim - 18 Feb 2004 11:44 GMT All Australian states have their sores, they are as long as human settlement in this country. When does a "sore" become a social problem? Perhaps its a matter of size and scope. And the "mex" capital is much bigger and perhaps more culturally diverse population wise than in "Gods Country". Certainly the local papers are far less parochial than a few years ago. I suspect that the media are to blame for much of our slanted views of different places. How much do I know about America ? Basically that they shoot each other with amazing regularity. I don't see the average Yank living peacefully.I don't really know about the good stuff because it isn't newsworthy. The media pick up on shootings and cultural clashes. There are more people down south so we hear about more problems. Having lived in both states my personal lifestyle choice is Qld. But I have family that visit and they won't leave Sydney. (I just hate cities so Sydney is the pits for me...) Oops this is a 4wd forum not a state bashing forum. Sorry for getting confused. I need divine intervention. Might ring my mate upstairs.....he's only a local call from here :-)

ken \(good grief it's upside down\) - 08 Feb 2004 06:47 GMT hmm maybe in Brisvegas but not anywhere else. I'd LOVE to get one for that money ($15,.000) - in fact if there is a good diesel for that money at that age and not too much mileage I'll be there to pick it up this weekend.

looks in great shape, log books say it came from Cunnamulla, the dust inside certainly would confirm that

Don't get me wrong and start again on the VIC v QLD crap again, there is nothing wrong with beach running as long as you clean down later. Some people don't and the last thing you want to but is a car full of salt and hidden rust. But you can get 97 to 01 model Factory T/D landcruisers with low k's in good nick in QLD let me know where ( web site, phone No, etc ) I am only to happy to come up and buy one.
