Just wondering if anyone here has previously had a vehicle transported
interstate....or knows of a company that will transport a vehicle from
Sydney to Darwin (rail or truck)
I live in sydney and just before christmas i drove North up to cairns , West
across to karrumba , South down to Mt Isa , then East across to
Townsville/Mackay/rocky/Brisbane then Syd , stopping only to eat sleep and
refuel.
a HUGE drive by my standards and I dont really want to do it again so
soon....trouble is I need to be in Darwin by April ( staying for 12 months)
and would much rather fly (as I am sure many here would prefer , considering
the hammering FNQ and the NT have had in recent weeks)
so , does anyone know of a mob that will transport (not drive) a vehicle up
to Darwin while the driver flys up there ?

I have used Autotrans before their service has always been good.
The pricing was better than general freight carriers and they use a proper
covered car carriers.
I used a general freight company once and never again the chassis was
scratched from being top loaded with a fork lift and the vehicle was covered
in exhaust soot and grime.
I would say your looking at around $1200 from previous experiance.

You can put it unaccompanied on the train. However depending on the size
(car not you!) it may not fit at Sydney - you'd have to put it on at
Adelaide. We were looking at doing that and driving back but since our car
won't fit in Sydney, we're rethinking the trip.
Their website is www.trainways.com.au
