Using a Mazda Tribute near Perth?

Hi all,

sorry to the real 4WD enthusiasts out there but I only have a Tribute (at
the moment, anyway) and am a real newcomer to it all, so I am wondering what
thoughts any owners or observers might have on the vehicle when taking it
off-roading, ie, is it absolutely useless for 4WD'ing or does it have some
redeeming features?

The only off-roading I have used it for was a day-trip on a mountain track
when I was over East, and then I think the clearance was the main hero!

My second, related point is - what trips are there near Perth (say, within a
few days) that my Tribute could reasonably expect to handle?

Any useful information is always appreciated, and even some useless stuff if
you must!!

ta all

Don't take it swimming, i.e. be VERY careful if you have to do any river
crosings, wade it out & don't go in anything remotely deep. A friend
found out the hard way- vehicle written off, electrics ruined. Good
thing his wife had the prescence of mind to open the sunroof while it
still worked so they could escape.
