Has anyone had problems with thier 4x4 battery shi*tting itself with
comstant off use? My ones dont last and a work mates recommended the OPTIMA
battery, has anyone used one of these batteries? I know that they are very
pricey but hey if it saves me buying 4 sh*tty ones Im all for it.

Cheers in advance.

Do you often flatten it to the point of needing a jump start as flattening a
battery past 10ish voltsm kills non deep cycles very quickly
As a rule Ive never found batteries failing due to off road use so I would
be getting an auto elec to have a look at your voltage regulator as you
might be cooking your battery.
Optima batteries are exxy and you will also cook it if you are over doing it
electrically so spend a few bucks with an auto elec and then you have a
known point to start from

Nothing to do with 4WDs but I had a battery going flat regularly which
was driving me nuts (pun).  The auto-electrician discovered the
alternator was shorting and required replacing which resolved the
problem.  Batteries shouldn't be flattened while the engine is running
unless you are idling for the most part in heavy traffic, you have the
heater or A/C going, lights on (probably due to rain) etc ie heavy
electrical usage with very low engine speed motoring.

Yes sorry I actually meant Off Road use not off use but yes these are spiral
bound plates so apparently will not short out with constant shaking or
bouncing around.  Ive since the first post read up about them. Seem really
good and may well be worth the $350. If the motor sh*ts itself at least with
the 1000CCA I can drive home on the starter motor! Theres two types availabe
the Red and the Yellow. The red being a starter type perfect for the general
4x4 use and the yellow Deep cycle if I want to do the camping thingo, also
perfect for the winch.  These are also leakproof so can install insode the
cab if I have to (not that I can why I would though).

Actually fromthe web site of the infos true I can see it being a great
battery, any comments or other recommendations.......?
